Terms of Use
Last updated: October 9, 2026
This website (the "Service") is operated by [OPERATOR NAME] ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What the Service does
The Service forwards a web address you provide to the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine and shows you a link to the resulting copy. The Service also loads the page in a browser on our server, takes a screenshot stamped with the address and capture time, and uploads that screenshot to third-party image hosts (currently Catbox, Pixhost, 0x0.st, Litterbox, ImgBB, Freeimage.host, Imgur, Imgchest, Gyazo and Flickr, depending on configuration). Copies on some hosts are temporary and expire after a set time. The link to each uploaded screenshot is then also archived on the Wayback Machine. We do not host the archived copies or the uploaded screenshots. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by the Internet Archive or any of these hosts, and their own terms of service and policies govern every submission.
2. Acceptable use
You may use the Service only for lawful purposes. You agree not to use it to:
- infringe copyright, trademark or other intellectual-property rights;
- harass, stalk, threaten, defame or dox anyone, or expose another person's private or personal information;
- preserve or distribute content that is illegal to possess or share, including any content that sexualizes minors (which we will report to the appropriate authorities);
- submit pages that are not publicly accessible, or circumvent logins, paywalls, rate limits or other access controls;
- distribute malware, phishing pages or fraudulent material;
- submit pages containing nudity, sexual content or graphic violence;
- send automated or bulk requests, or otherwise overload the Service or any archive service;
- violate any applicable law or regulation, or the terms of any archive service.
We may block, limit or report any use we believe violates these Terms.
3. Archived copies and screenshots are public and may be permanent
Archive services and most image hosts make what they store publicly viewable for an indefinite period. We cannot edit, hide or delete archived copies or uploaded screenshots. Requests to remove one must be sent directly to the service that holds it.
4. Information we collect
When you submit a page, we send its address to the Wayback Machine, its screenshot to each image host, and the resulting image links to the Wayback Machine. We also keep a private copy of each screenshot, together with the submitted address, the time and your IP address, for our records and to handle abuse reports. To prevent abuse we log the submitted address, the time, the services used and your IP address, and keep these logs for [RETENTION PERIOD, e.g. 90 days]. We do not sell this information. We may disclose it if required by law or to respond to abuse.
5. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that any submission will succeed, that any archived copy will be complete, accurate or available in the future, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. An archived copy is not, by itself, proof that content is authentic.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits or reputation, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed fifty U.S. dollars (US $50).
7. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your submissions, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.
8. Not legal advice
Nothing on the Service is legal advice. If you need to preserve web content for litigation or another legal matter, consult a lawyer about appropriate evidence-preservation methods.
9. Eligibility
You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live to use the Service.
10. Changes and governing law
We may update these Terms at any time; the date above shows the latest version. These Terms are governed by the laws of [STATE / COUNTRY], without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
